Two evil mutants want to buy some medical records. Jesse and Brennan pretend that they're are selling them but before they do, they asks the evil dudes what's so important about these records. The evil dudes tell them to mind their own business. Brennan tries to use his powers on them. They retaliate and use their powers on both Bren and Jesse, who are no match for them. Shal and Emma come to the rescue but they too get their asses kick.
All four go to Adam all upset because they were beaten by mutants with powers they have never seen before. Adam tells them that obviously someone out there is playing around trying to crack the DNA code. Bren asks him who would do that. Adam changes the conversation.
Dr. Haines, the person who told Adam that people were trying buy the medical records tells Adam he's going to the police. One of his nurses was attacked. Adam sends Shal and Bren to find him. The evil mutants find Dr. Haines first. They kill him and take the records.
Shal and Bren are in the helix. Bren tells Shal that he thinks Adam knows more than he's saying. Shal wants to give Adam the benefit of the doubt. Bren tells her she's being way too supportive of Adam and that he hopes Adam deserves it.
They land the helix. They find Dr. Haines dead in his car. There's a security camera nearby that filmed everything. Jesse hacks into it. We can see on the tape the two evil dudes getting into the doctor's car and then getting out of it with a suitcase. They leave in their own car. Jesse looks at the license plate. After a quick search, Jesse learns that the car belongs to a corporation called Naxcon. Shal's shocked. She says it's her father's company.
Adam wants Shal to go to her father for some information. She begs him not to make her do it. She hates her father. When she was ten, he put her in a mental institution where she was heavily drugged and severly beaten by the ordelies with her father's consent. Adam tells her she has to.
Shal calls her father. They meet at his company. He shows her around. Shal's wearing a hidden camera so that Jesse can see what kind of security is in place. Shal and her father talk about the past and the present.
Meanwhile, Adam broke into Haines private computer to "confirm" the name of the people that the bad guys are looking for. Emma says "confirm ? So you have some idea of who they're looking for". Adam lies and says no. Emma's like "What do you want me to do, pretend I believe you". Adam tells her to stay out of his head.
Shal's father tells her that they're things about Adam she doesn't know. Shal asks what. He tells her it doesn't matter, it's water under the bridge. Emma and Adam hear all this. Emma gets more suspicious of Adam.
Nicholas Fox wants to rebuild his relationship with his daughter. Shal's not sure. She leaves. Eckart enter the room. He now has short dark hair and wears normal looking clothes and glasses.
Ok, so Daddy Fox and Eckart are in cahoots together. Fox promised Eckart to help him in his project, in return Eckart would get him his daughter back.
Adam wants Shal and Jesse to go back to her father's company to get into some secret room. Shal doesn't want to because she now thinks her father isn't involved in anything. Adam tells her to go anyway. Shal leaves the room.
Emma tells Adam, Jesse and Bren that she found names in Dr. Haines database. When Jess and Bren leave, she tells Adam his name was also in the database. Why was his name among those of people manufacturing mutants. Adam has no real answer for her. Emma is getting frustrated.
Later on, Bren and Em are talking. Bren asks her if she sensed something from Adam. She tells him that like a priest who's hearing a confession, she can't say anything. Bren tells her that sometimes you have to cut your morals loose.
Shal and Jesse sneak into her father's company. Meanwhile Bren and Emma go after the evil mutants. They are three now. They're attacking some woman. Bren and Em try to stop them. Bren gets beat up by one of them who's on crutches. Emma kills one of the bad dudes with one her blasts. The others get away.
Shal and Jess enter the secret room. They look around. Eckart enters the room also but doesn't see Shal and Jess. They escape.
Shal asks Adam what is Eckart doing in her father's company. Adam tells her and the others something about Eckart attempting to do a selective mutation from a specific blue print but that he doesn't have the required DNA to perfect the process. Bren asks him how does he know all that. He says it doesn't matter how. Emma is like "No! tell the truth. Don't force me to use my powers on you". Adam confesses that Eckart got the blue prints from him. Apparently, Adam had once experimented on selective mutations. Eckart is now trying to recreate Adam's experiments.
Shal is very upset. She tells Adam that he is no better than Eckart. Adam tries to defend himself. Bren doesn't believe him anymore. Both Bren and Shal leave.
Shal wants to go rescue her father from Eckart. Bren goes with her. She confronts her father. He tells her that everything he did, he did for her. Eckart offered him money for his business but also a chance to get his daughter back, all "cured". Shal tells him she's not sick. She doesn't need to be "cured". She likes who and what she is. Bren tells Daddy Fox he shouldn't have trusted Eckart because he's a murderer. Daddy Fox activates a green "force field". Shal and Bren are trapped in it. They can't move.
Eckart calls Adam. Tells him he has Shal and Bren. Adam goes to rescue them. Emma and Jesse want to go with him. Adam is surprised by that. Jess tells him that it took him 28 years to find somebody to believe in and that he's not going to throw that away. Adam is touched.
They go meet Eckart. Adam, Eckart, Nicholas and the MX team are all in the secret room. Eckart tells them he is planning on creating a whole new race of mutants. Daddy Fox is not happy. It wasn't part of the deal. With the computer he opens all the steam valves and releases the pressure. The whole place is going to blow up. Eckart escapes. The others also try to escape. They're running. There are explosions everywhere. But they're in the part of the building that is resting on pillars or something. So they all fall on the floor that is going from horizontal to vertical. They're all trying to hold on to the floor you know like in the Titanic movie (Sorry I'm not good at describing these sorts of things ).
And then well... that's it.
