Tar is a program for packaging a set of files as a single archive in tar format. The function it performs is conceptually similar to cpio, and to things like PKZIP in the DOS world.
Using tar:

tar -xzvf flshcrd.tar.gz

This is InfoZIP's zip program. It produces files that are fully compatible with the popular PKZIP program; however, the command line options are not identical. In other words, the end result is the same, but the methods differ.
Using unzip:

unzip flshcrd.zip

Instructions:

The tar and zip files create a directory named flashcards which contain the HTML documents and images for the Hindi Flashcards. Start your web browser and open the flashcards.html file to begin. Javascript is used for the pop-up windows. You must have Javascript enabled in your web browser. Specific instructions for using the Hindi Flashcards are at the top of flashcards.html
