Will of ISAAC HERRIN

In The Name of God Amen this Second Day of April Anno Domini 1756 I ISAAC HERRIN alias IRWIN in the Township of Hopewell and County of Hunterdon and province of West New Jersey being very Sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory Thanks be to God therefore and Calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing it is appointed for all men Once to Dye Do make and Ordain this to be my Last Will and [bottom of page torn away, several lines missing] Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christianlike and Decent manner and as to that worldly Estate herewith it hath pleased God to bless me I dispose of in the following manner and form.
Imprimis I Give and bequeath to EDMUND my Loving Son all the land lying and being upon the South Side of my Plantation as it is hereafter Divided to him his Heirs and Assigns forever. Beginning at a White Oak Sapling marked upon two Sides Standing upon the Hills not ffar from the woods that rise over the Brook to my Son EDMUND?s plantation from thence to the Corner of their ffence upon the South Side of my Meadow and running along the said ffence where it now stands by a Spanish Oak tree marked upon two Sides thence a Straight Corner to the North Corner of that ffield that Nathaniel Morgan Stubbd from thence along the Line between me and the place that once belonged to William Bryant then along the Outward Boundary as it is mentioned in my Deed.
Item It is my will that the Homestead on this my Plantation thus Divided from my son EDMUNDs plantation be Sold to the best Advantage And the money arising from thence after my Debts and ffuneral Charges are paid to be Divided into Several Equal parts, thus, One Seventh part to Penelope my Loving wife and one Seventh parts to ISAAC my Grand Son the Son of EDMUND HERRIN and the remainder to my Loving Daughters namely ANNE MARTHA MARY REBECCA and RACHEL.
Item It is my will that my Personal Estate be all Sold Excepting One Horse and a Saddle which I Give to my Wife PENELOPE and that She Chuse the Horse together with all the Estate that She brought to me at our Marriage.
Item I Give and bequeath unto ISAAC WOOLVERTONs three children that was born of the Body of my daughter ABIGAIL Ten pounds to Each to be paid by my Executors when they shall Come of Age and the remainder parts of all my moveable Estate to be Equally divided among my Daughters.
And I do hereby Constitute and Ordain WILLIAM HOAGLAND and JOHN JEWELL to be Executors of this my Last will and Testament and I do hereby revoke Disannull and Disallow all fformer wills Legacies and Testaments by me before named Willed and bequeathed ffully ratifying and Confirming this and no Other to be my Last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have Set my Hand and Seal at the Time and place above Written.

REUBEN ARMITAGE one of the witnesses to the within Will being Sworn On the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God Did Depose that he saw ISAAC HERRIN alias IRWIN the Testator within named Sign and Seal the Same And heard him publish pronounce and Declare the Within Instrument to be his last will and Testament And that at the Doing thereof the Said Testator was of Sound mind and Disposing mind and memory as far as this Deponent knows and as he verilly believes and that AZARIAH HUNT and NATHAN HUNT the Other Subscribing Witnesses was present and Signed their names as Witnesses to the said Will together with this Deponent in Presence of the Testator. REUBEN ARMITAGE Sworn the Seventeenth Day of May 1756 before me THOS. SEVERN Surrogte BC. Rememb[e]red that the Last will and Testament OF ISAAC HERRIN alias IRWIN being Duely proved as above said Probate and Letters Testamentary were Granted by his Excellency JONATHAN BELCHER Esq. Governour of the province of New Jersey &c. unto WILLIAM HOAGLAND and JOHN JEWELL Executors in the Within Testament ordained they being Duly Sworn on the Holy Evangelist of almighty God well and truly to perform said Will to Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory and to render a Just and true Account when thereunto Lawfully required. Given under the prerogative Seal of the said province at Burlington this Eleventh Day of June Anno Domini One thousand Seven Hundred and ffifty Six.
