The Merrell Family Cemetery is located on Old Mountain Road (SR 1553) south of Trinity, Randolph County, NC. The cemetery is a short distance east of the Little Uwharrie River. From Exit 106 on Interstate 85, take Finch Farm Road south. Turn right on Old Mountain Road and continue south. The cemetery is a short distance past the intersection of Old Mountain Road and Refuge Church Drive on the west side of the road. It is located in the woods behind a home at 2715 Old Mountain Road. The cemetery is very overgrown, and in poor condition. The graves of Daniel Merrell (footstone only), Lytle Merrell, and Rachel (Ward) Merrell can still be found there. The grave of Mary (Cornell) Merrell photographed in 1984 by researcher C. Phelps Merrell is now missing, as is the grave of Elizabeth (Lytle) Merrell.
