The foregoing genealogy of the first three generations of the Merrill family in Warwickshire, England is based upon the superb and extensive genealogical research of Mr. Robert Davidson of Richmond, Virginia. The author wishes to acknowledge and give credit to the work and contributions of Mr. Davidson, who has greatly expanded our knowledge of the Merrill family.
WILLIAM MERRILL was born perhaps about 1540, a farmer in the village of Honington, Warwickshire, England during the reign of Elizabeth I. His wife may have been an ELIZABETH MERRILL, who was buried in Honington on November 30, 1583. William Merrill devised his will in October, 1592, leaving household goods and livestock to his sons William, George, Richard, and Thomas Merrill, and sheep to the children of his son William. William Merrill was buried at Honington on November 30, 1610. An inventory was taken of his estate in February 1610/11, consisting of a horse and plow, farm implements, livestock, tables and furniture, brass pots, pans, candlesticks, and pewterware. Issue:
