William Orr

      WILLIAM ORR, b. December 18, 1790 Lincoln County, NC, d. October 1, 1844 Buncombe (Transylvania) County, NC; md. ELIZABETH SHUFORD, b. March 3, 1792, d. June 6, 1879 (January 6, 1879 per Shuford genealogy) Transylvania County, NC, daughter of GEORGE SHUFORD and MARY BURRELL. William Orr was commissioned a Colonel of the Militia, and also served in the North Carolina House of Commons in 1831. He died from injuries received by the running away of a team of horses he was driving while on his way to market in South Carolina. William and Elizabeth (Shuford) Orr are buried in the Orr Family Cemetery, Hart Road, Little River, North Carolina. Issue:

  1. CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS (C.C.) ORR, b. abt. 1824 (1860 census) Buncombe (Transylvania) County, NC, d. before August 8, 1865 [Transylvania County, North Carolina Will devised April 18, 1863, proven August 8, 1865]; md. March 12, 1848, CHRISTIANA "CHRISSIE" BEACHAM.

  2. PERRY C. ORR, b. February 24, 1826 Buncombe (Transylvania) County, NC, d. January 27, 1900 age 73y 11m 3d, Transylvania County, NC; md. December 22, 1847, SARAH E. GREER, b. January 5, 1829, d. September 28, 1873. Perry C. and Sarah E. (Greer) Orr are buried in the Orr Family Cemetery, Hart Road, Little River, North Carolina.
