In the Name of God Amen, the twenty-fourth day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Twenty-Two, I JONATHAN STOUT of Hopewell in the County of Hunterdon in the Western Division of the Province of New Jersey Yeoman being weak of body but of perfect sense, memory, and understanding thanks be to Almighty for the same, therefore calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. Principally and first of all, I recommend my Soul unto the Hands of God that gave it and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried after a Decent and Christian manner and as touching such worldly estate wherewith God hath been pleased to bless me with in this Life, I give devise and dispose of in the following manner.
Imprimis, I will my just debts and funeral charges be first paid and discharged.
Item, I will and bequeath unto my son JOSEPH STOUT, my daughter SARAH, my daughter HANNAH, my son BENJAMIN, and my son ZEBULON each of them the sum of one shilling.
Item, I allow my son BENJAMIN STOUT the tract of land which he now dwells on containing two hundred and fifty acres more or less with all its rights, priviledges, and appurtenances to him his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns forever.
Item, I allow unto my son JONATHAN STOUT two tracts of land, the one containing three hundred acres with the allowance, the other containing one hundred acres both lying and being in the western division of the province above, with all their rights, priviledges, and appurtenances to him, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns forever.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my three sons JONATHAN STOUT, DAVID STOUT, and SAMUEL STOUT the land being part of one full equal and undivided Sixteenth part of one whole propriety lying in the western division of the province aforesaid to them, their executors, administrators, and assigns forequally to be divided among them and if it should so happen that either of them died without issue then his share or part shall be divided equally between the other two and if it should happen that two of them die without issue then their shares or parts shall be the survivors.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my two sons DAVID STOUT and SAMUEL STOUT the plantation I now dwell on with all the priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to them, their heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns forever equally to be divided between them and my negro man named Silas.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter ANNE STOUT my negro girl called Doll? and an iron furnace, one warming pan, one chest and draws, one feather bed and bedding which she likes best and the little girl named Phebe.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my son JONATHAN STOUT my negro girl called Kate and one bed and bedding.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my son DAVID STOUT two horses and one mare and one bed and bedding.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my son SAMUEL STOUT one horse and a black mare and colt and one feather bed and bed and one equal fourth part of the remaining part of all my personal estate.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my son JONATHAN STOUT one fourth part of the remaining part of all my personal estate.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my son DAVID STOUT one equal fourth part of all the remaining part of my personal estate.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter ANNE STOUT one equal fourth part of all the remaining part of all my personal estate.
Item, I make and ordain my true and trusty friend ANDREW SMITH my Executor to this my Last Will and Testament and I hereby revoke and null and make void all other wills and Testaments by me made and allow this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written.

This 25th day of March Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven Hundred and Twenty Three personally came before me SAMUEL BUSSILL, Deputy Surrogate of the Western Division of the Province of New Jersey duly commissioned and appointed for the Proving of last wills and testaments, BARTHOLOMEW CORWINE one of the witnesses to the within will, who being sworn upon the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God doth depose that he was present and did see JONATHAN STOUT within named sign, seal, publish, and declare the within written testament to be his last will and testament and that at the same time the Testator was of sound mind and memory to the best of his knowledge and understanding and that at the same time he, this deponent, did sign his name as a witness thereunto in presence of the Testator and that the name BARTH. CORWINE so subscribed is of his own proper handwriting, and that at the same time also HEZEKIAH BONHAM and HEZEKIAH BUNELL, the other two subscribed witnesses were also personally present, and did sign their names as witnesses to the within will in the presence of the testator, and that the names HEZEKIAH BONHAM and HEZEKIAH BUNELL so subscribed is of the said subscribers' own proper hand writing.

This 25th day of March Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and Twenty Three personally came before me SAMUEL BUSSELL, Deputy Surrogate of the Western Division of the Province of New Jersey, duly commissioned and appointed ANDREW SMITH the Executor in the within will named and appointed, who being sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God, Doth depose That the within written Testament Contains the last will and Testament of JONATHAN STOUT the Testator within named as far as he knows and believes, and That he will well and Truly perform the same by paying full the debts and then the Legacies Contained in the said will so far forth as the goods, Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased will thereunto Extend or the Law Charge and That he will make a True and perfect Inventory as also render a just acct. when thereunto required.
