John (GW4BVE) and I had been planning an unactivated summit to unactivated summit for some time. This was the day.

I parked tucked well into a layby on what must be one of the narrowest parts of the A470 (the main North/South Wales trunk road). It's too narrow to open a car door safely but where else to go ? It's at SN945724 opposite a B+B (Glyn Gwr). Walk back up the A470 100m dodging the juggernauts and onto the farm track to Bwlchgwyn Farm.

Follow the zig-zag track up the hill and through the farm. Ducks, Guinea Fowl, chickens and sheep. You don't need a map, just follow the tractor ruts to the ridge at SN951732 then bear left (NW) to follow field fence and on up to the summit. 40-50 min walk.

There are SEVEN wind farms visible from this location. The nearest is about 1km away, but no noise (audible or electrical) noticeable.

Garred Lwyd is just 1m short of being a two pointer, so if you're going up, take a bucket of soil with you ;-)
