The start for this one is at Eisteddfa-Gurig on the A44 at GR797841. There are lay-bys on the A44 to the east (about 1/4 mile - weekdays there is usually a refreshment van parked here - be careful how you park as large lorries come in from time to time, and don't mention me - I dropped one of his mugs) and to the west (about 1/2 mile).

The start of the route through the buildings is not quite what is on my map (Explorer 213 - 1998 but seems to be the latest issue) due to recent developments - we were told to go across the car park bearing about half left and past some industrial buildings with a couple of chained dogs which pretended to be fierce.

We did find a gate across the track which was very securely tied and with barbed wire wound round the top, but a stride across a nearby wire fence gave us access. The track is clear with a gentle incline to some old mine working - all that seems to be left is a large wheel, presumably from the top of a shaft. Here the path heads initially about 340 deg, but becomes rather faint further on, but still over grass and not too steep. Heading towards the highest point, the route becomes stony.

Having crossed the fence near the summit, the ground degenerates to a small boulder field, but there is a substantial circular wind-break close to the summit, and the trig point can be used to tie a mast to, but a good length of cable will be required to operate from the wind break. Having said that, a small mast could easily be guyed to the structure itself. On a clear day views are excellent all round.
