Thought I'd try a different route from last year so instead of taking the minor road from Llanbedr and parking at Maes y garnedd I took the road from Harlech and parked at Llyn Cwm Bychan.

Narrow road all the way from Harlech and several gates too. Just before the lake there was a stream and large pool of water, alongside was a memorial shrine covered in trinkets and gifts.

There was something similar along the route I took last year. Quite eerie looking at dusk!

At the lake is Cwm Bychan farm where camping, fishing kayaking is allowed for a small fee. Parking only allowed at the farm for a fee of £2 per car.

Well signposted from the carpark is the path (Roman steps) leading south east towards the forestry area and Pistyll Gwyn. Before the forestry the path leads to the right up towards Rhinog Fawr.

The Roman steps was featured in a recent BBC TV programme called "Mapman" and is believed to exist long before the Romans arrived.

This has to be one of the nicest walks around with great views.

Several cairns on the large summit providing the only antenna support.
