2001 ends in record fashion for the Eagles
The 2001 MWC Eagles baseball team completed a record setting year for MWC baseball. Following
a 2-2 record and a 3rd place finish in the NCAA Tournament, the Eagles finished with
a 28-12 record, tying the school record for wins. Mary Washington will finish in the
Top-30 for the first time in 3 years and broke numerous individual and team records in 2001.
The team broke the school marks in walks (212), strikeouts (221), innings pitched (325),
& saves (10). Individually, Junior SS Mark McEathron set the school
record in most at-bats (159) and strikeouts (36) and Junior RHP
Ryan Grue tied the saves mark
with 4. As a final note, I would like to thank everyone for following the team and for the
support we received at the regional from all who came and cheered. Personally, I have
enjoyed keeping this web site up and getting the word out about Mary Washington baseball.
Thanks to all who have come to the site and left messages in the guestbook, hopefully someone
from the team next year will keep it going so that everyone can keep up with the team. Thanks
again!!! - Mike Parker '01
