MATERIALS: * Worsted weight yarn - 28 oz. skipper blue, 20 oz. white,
8 oz. bright yellow;
tapestry needle; H crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE: Rounds 1 and 2 = 2-3/4"
SKILL LEVEL: Easy
SINGLE-COLOR SQUARE (Make 72 blue, 36 white, 24 yellow)
Rnd 1: (RS) Ch 4, sl st to form ring, ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 2,
(3 dc in ring, ch 2) 3 times, sl st in top of beg ch-3.
Rnd 2: (WS) Turn, sl st in first ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp,
ch 1, * (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, rep from * 2 more times,
3 dc in beg sp, ch 2, join.
Rnd 3: Turn, sl st in first ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 1,
3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, * (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc
in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, rep from * 2 more times, 3 dc in beg sp, ch 2, join.
Fasten off..
TWO-COLOR SQUARE (Make 36 white/blue, 24 yellow/blue)
Note: Drop color not in use to wrong side of work, do not cut yarn until
square is complete.
Rnd 1: (RS) With white (yellow), ch 4, sl st in first ch to form
ring, ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 2, 3 dc in ring, changing to blue in last dc,
ch 2, (3 dc in ring, ch 2) twice, join with sl st to beg ch 3.
Rnd 2: (WS) Turn, sl st in first ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp,
ch 1, (3dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp,
changing to white (yellow) in last dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp, ch 1, (3 dc,
ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in beg sp, ch 2 join.
Rnd 3: Turn, sl st in first ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 1,
3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, (3dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, (ch 1, 3 dc
in next sp) twice changing to blue in the last dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp,
ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, ( 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 1,
3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in beg sp, ch 2, join. Finish off.
Matching colors, with rights sides together and working through back lps
only, assemble 12 blocks according to photo.
BLOCK EDGING
Notes: For V-stitch, (V-st) ( dc, ch 1, dc) in given sp.
Rnd 1: Join blue in any corner ch-2 sp, ch 4, (dc, ch 2, V-st) in
same sp, *V-st in each sp to next corner, (V-st, ch 2, V-st) in corner, rep
from * around ending sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-4, fasten off.
Rnd 2: Join white in any ch-2 corner sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc)
in same sp, *3 dc in each V-st to next corner, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner,
rep from * around ending sl st in beg ch-3, fasten off.
With white, whip stitch blocks together 3 wide and 4 long.
BORDER
Rnds 1 and 2: Rep rnds 1 and 2 of block edging.
Rnd 3: Join blue with sc in any corner, work 2 sc in same corner,
*sc in each st and sp to next corner, 3 sc in corner, rep from * around
ending sl st in first sc, fasten off.
