The 15th International Conference on Texture of Materials

The 15th International Conference on Texture of Materials organized for “The American Ceramic Society” was held in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, USA; from 1st to the 6th of June at the Pittsburgh University and Carnegie Mellon University. The venue was the Carnegie Mellon University Center.

The conference was divided into several symposiums which covered a huge range of topic all related to the texture of materials; the poster exhibition was exposed in the main hall for the first two days, after this the main hall was divided in two small rooms to provide the technical oral presentation more space and time. The symposium of Recrystallization Texture – Retrospective vs. Current Problems was of my particular interest because my research work is covered in this topic.

This was my first participation in an international congress, as always the moments before my oral presentation; the nerves almost broke my legs but when the exposition begun I felt relief, by the end of the presentation I was very please with my participation. This experience has allowed me to affront my fears and learn from the experience that people that work in similar fields.

I believe that the city of Pittsburgh and Sheffield have several similarities, both have rivers in the vicinities, a grate passion for the locals sports teams, and the most important both cities has a great history of steel making. I am deeply glad with my sponsors to allow me to participate in the 15th ICOTOM at Pittsburg, but in especially with IMMPETUS and my supervisors Dr. Brad Wynne and Prof. Mark Rainforth.
