Top 10 Family Games in FL

10.  Pin the hurricane on the landfall site:  Place a large map of the state of FL on the wall.  Give each participant a NOAA approved hurricane symbol, blindfold them, turn them around three times and then pin the hurricane to the map.  Bonus points may be given to the individual that comes closest to the actual landfall point.  In the event of the hurricane making 2 landfalls (i.e. Ivan) there may be a tie declared.

9.  No electricity cook-off:  Each participant must use either a charcoal or gas grill to prepare a full meal from the de-frosted contents of the their own freezer.  Winner determined by panel of judges selected from your neighbors.

8.  Find the flashlight:  Flashlights and batteries are hidden in various parts of the house, then after the power goes out everyone scrambles to be the first to light their flashlight.

7.  Plywood relays:  Each family member is given the tools to board up one window of the house.  The first to complete the task with at least 4 nails located in each corner of the plywood is the winner.

6.  Meteorologist charades:  Each family member must give a weather update in the style of a local or national meterologist and the rest of the family must guess their identity.

5.  Shopping cart bumper cars:  Each family member is given a copy of the emergency preparedness kit from the American Red Cross, a shopping cart and a buggy in your local grocery or hardware store.  The first one to checkout with the most complete kit wins.

4. Guess what I smell like?:  After 3 days with no water and no a/c the family gets to guess which animal each of the other members smells like.

3.  Greasy Hair Contest:  After the power and water return the member of the family that has the greasiest hair wins.

2.  Was that a looter?:   Each family member that hears suspicious noises is allowed to shoot into the dark.  The one that actually shoots a looter wins.

1.  Clean the yard race:   After the storm has passed, each member of the family is given a chainsaw and a sector of the property to clean of debris.  The first one to clean their sector and place all the debris where the city might or might not remove it wins
