Paripu Payasam Split Pea Pudding 1/2 cup Yellow Split Peas OR Egyptian Red Lentils 2 cups Water 3/4 cup Brown Sugar 1/8 tsp Salt 2 cups Coconut milk 1/2 tsp ground Cardamom 1. Boil Split Peas OR Red Lentils in Water until Water is almost gone and Peas OR Lentils are reduced to mush. 2. Beat with whisk to thoroughly puree Peas OR Lentils. 3. Add Brown Sugar, Salt, Coconut Milk & ground Cardamom. Stir well. 4. Bring back to boil, reduce heat to low, simmer uncovered about 15 minutes, stirring well every 2 minutes. 5. The thick pudding should be served warm, immediately. |
