The information on this website pertains to my diagnosis of breast cancer and the
subsequent treatment I received to hopefully get rid of it for good it. These
are just my own personal experiences with surgery, Chemotherapy, radiation therapy
and everything that went along with it. I am not a doctor nor am I a health
care professional. I am just a 40-year old woman who found a lump in her breast
that turned out to be cancer. The first thing I did when I found out that I had breast cancer was get online and read up as much as I could about it and all the different therapies and treatments. There are some great websites out there that have very good and helpful information. And I really believe that along with good communication with your doctors, finding out as much as you can about the disease and all the different treatments available is essential in making sure you get the right treatment for your diagnosis. But for all the good and useful information I got from the doctors and from these websites, there was a lot of things that happened that I wasn't expecting and that is why I have made this website. Of course no two people react the same way to the different treatments available. For example one person might have every side effect known to man, while another might have very few side effects at all. Once again I must stress that these are my own personal experiences and just because things happened this way for me, doesn't mean they will happen the same way for you. The whole point of this website is to share my own experience and to go through each step, from finding the lump, to having surgery and through the eight months of chemo and radiation therapy. Its not clinical and it wont be emotional, its just what happened to me and I have done this with the hope that maybe somebody who is facing breast cancer might get a better idea of what to expect in the coming months of treatment. So that maybe it all seems a little less scary. If you have any questions about anything I have experienced then please feel free to e-mail me and I will do my best to answer any questions you have. Naturally since I'm not a doctor I'm not going to give out any medical advice, but as far as practical question about treatments etc I'm more than happy to help in any way I can. This website will be split into four main sections: The first section will deal with my finding the lump, getting it diagnosed and the surgery that followed. The second section will be about my chemotherapy, the side effects and how I was feeling through each stage of every three week cycle. The third section will be about my radiation therapy, dealing with the grind of daily treatment and any problems, frustrations or occurences I encountered The fourth section will just be a small section about how things have been for me since I finished all my treatment The links on the left hand side of this page will take you to a brief bio about me. There is a list of links that I found to be most useful when I first found out that I had breast cancer. And there is a page of tips and tricks that I learnt to help me deal with therapy, side effects and things like blood tests and hair loss. The option to send me an e-mail is there and links to my guestbook and I would be thrilled if you took the time to sign it.... |
