COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS
Materials needed:
4 ply ww yarn
small amount of contrasting yarn
Size "G" Hook
25 Candy Kisses
Approx. size: 12"x30"
Row 1: Ch 41, sc in second ch from hook and each ch across (40 sc). Turn
Row 2-10: Ch 1, sc in same sp as ch 1. Sc in each st across. Turn 40 sc)
Row 11: Ch 3, count as first DC now and throughout, DC in the next 9 st. *Front loops only, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st*, DC in the next 12 st. Repeat * to *, DC in next 10 st. Turn (44 DC)
Row 12: Ch 3, DC in next 9 st, *Back loop of the previous row, trc in the next 4 st*, DC in next 12 st. Repeat * to*, DC in the 10 st. Turn (40 DC)
Row 13-14: Ch 3, DC in ea st across. Turn. (40 DC)
Row 15-58: Repeat Rows 11-14 (11 times)
Row 59: Ch 3, DC in next 17 st, *Front loops only, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st*, DC in next 18 st. Turn (44 DC)
Row 60: Ch 3, DC in next 17 st, *Back loops of previous row, trc in the next 4 st*.DC in next 18 sts. Turn (40 DC)
Row 61-70: Ch 1, sc in same sp as ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. At end of Row 70, fasten off and weave in ends. (40 sc)
Edging:
With contrasting color join with sl st in first sc of row 71, ch 1 sc in same sp as ch 1, sc evenly around, work 3 sc in corners, join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.
(If you want to add a little extra color to the pockets, just work a row of sc's in a contrasting color on each pocket)
You can decorate it with bows, ribbons, bells or any way you choose.
Place one chocolate kiss in each pocket..as you count down each day till Christmas you take one candy out of the pocket and eat it, one for each day, starting Dec 1st.
