Murphy's Information Full Name: Murphina Angelina Gender: Female Age: 9 months Came home: September, 2005 Favourite Toy: Swinging Perch Nicknames: Murph, Murphers, Em, Emmy, Baby Murphy was the first of the girls to come home with me. I bought her from a pet store (bin-o-budgies) and as soon as I saw her I HAD to have her. My intention was to get a male but there was no doubt in my mind that she was the one. She was sitting so quietly in the cage, minding her own business (where did THAT bird go?). For the first day or so I seriously thought she was dying, she wouldn't eat, drink or even move. I felt so horrible! She came around pretty quickely and started to step-up on my finger as well as hang out on the outside of her cage. |

Her curious personality was appernt from very early on, but I had no idea she would be come SO independent. Although she was bonding with me I hated seeing how sad/lonley she was when I left. I decided it was only fair to get another bird as her companion. Today, Murphina thinks she is in charge. Murphy is the first to go new places and play with new toys (but the last to try new foods). She has mastered the art of flying and enjoys finding new places to land, sleep and play on. Since the other birds are not as good at flying/landing Murphy will often take a time-out at a place out of reach from them. Murphy is so curious she often gets hersellf into bad situations and so has to be watched. She loves playing tag with Grishum and trying to get away with things that she KNOWS are not allowed (like playing in the curtains). Murphy has such a big and goofy personality despite her tiny size and I love her SOOOO much! The best thing about Murphy is that she is a momma's girl. None of my other birds seem to care, who's finger they are on, they will simply step up when they are told, not Murphy. She will reluctantly step up for most people but when I put my finger out she doesn't step, she jumps. She also flys to me, especially when I talk on the phone (she chirps into the reciver), but she has never spontaniously flown to anyone else. I must admit, having a momma's girl can make you feel like a million bucks. |
