His head throbbed painfully as he rubbed his forehead for comfort. He slowly opened his equally as painful eyes to observe his surroundings. Suprised to see complete and utter darkness, he sat upright wodering how long he'd been sleeping. It was dark when he had climbed into his warm bed and fell into a much- needed sleep. He reached aimlessly for his alarm clock but only found empty space; he grew nervous noticing there wasn't even a strip of light showing through the crack underneath his bedroom door. 'Are my eyes open?' He thought nervously, 'Why can't I see anything?' He panicked momentarily, as the thought of blindness crossed his mind. "You have not gone blind..." Boomed an incredibly loud voice. He knew immediately that he must have been dreaming, because he had said nothing outloud about blindness; and, he doubted there would be a man in his bedroom late at night. He relaxed a bit. "You are not dreaming boy..." The voice said again. "Who-who's there?" He stammered, ending his semi- relaxed state. His throat hurt as he spoke hoarsely and his heart was beating so fast that it seemed to be reaching every one of his fingertips. He rubbed his eyes, seeing again if he would be able to register some light. "Jack." Said the mighty voice. "Yes?" Jack answered, now wondering how this mysterious voice knew his name. The voice seemed to be coming from every angle, and he couldn't escape the pain it caused behind his eyes; Jack thought maybe the pain was from straining to see. "Do you know who you are?" The voice echoed off the invisible walls. Noting was visible in such overwhelming dark. "This is ridiculous..." Jack mummbled to himself, swinging his legs over the side of his bed. "I'm turning on the lights." However, when he expected his warm feet to meet the cold floor, he felt nothing. There was no floor for him to stand up on. 'Where am I?' He wanted to ask; he was afraid to think knowing that this mysterious voice would echo his thoughts back at him. "I brought you here, to your home, to show you who you really are." Echoed the voice. The voice laughed again. "Don't let your thoughts get ahead of you. I am not god, for there is not one. And you are not dead for, here, it is not possible to die." The voice said, answering all the questions in Jack's thoughts, yet stiring up so many more. "What are you talking about?" Jack was confused, and it only made his head spin more. "I am talking about reality, Jack..." "What?" He asked. "You heard me, I have brought you to your home. This is your home. Its name is Terra di Oscurita Eterna. Translated into your language it means 'Land of Eternal Darkness'." "This is crazy..." Again, Jack felt for the floor with his toes. Still finding none, and trying to stay convinced that he must still be dreaming, his heart beat so quickly that it was almost one consecutive beat. He shivered, and reached for his blankets. "What the hell..." He mummbled, finding none. "Ok I've had enough, just what the fuck do you think you're doing here?!" Jack began yelling. "This is my house, so why don't you just get the fuck out and-" He was cut short as he felt a strong grip close in quickly around his entire body. He gasped for air, unable to get any. "Listen to me." The voice was as loud as ever."You need to listen and stop speaking. Otherwise you will never understand, and my patience does not go on forever." The grip released him, and he was filled once again, with a rapid heart beat, and a dizzy sensation. He was becoming so disconnected being unable to see or feel anything around him. "Okay," He was shaking with fear, "What was that?" "It doesn't matter. You will pay attention now?" Jack nodded. |
