I made this page to share my small Vintage GI Joe collection with other Joe collectors and all others who wish to view it.
I started collecting GI Joe in Dec. of 1970 when at the age of six I received my first GI Joe from Santa. He was an Adventure Team Talking Commander. Also, under the tree was the Danger of the Depths set. Too Cool, My Brother and I promptly filled the bathtub and submerged our Joes. After the dive we discovered that our Joes could no longer talk. Apparently while Joe was evading the dangerous shark and soap bar icebergs he soaked his speaker and now he sounded like he was always under the water. My Dad came to the rescue by taking joe apart and drying his insides out. This misadventure ended happily with Joe making a full recovery.The following year Santa again came through with Five Star Jeeps. My brother and I (mostly my Brother) eventually acquired quite a few of the Adventure Team Vehicles and a few more Joes.Thanks to the durability of Plastic, Joe survived many a perilous adventure and many more misadventures like the bathtub incident of 70, Jeep crashes, rope slides and I even recall a shattering Space Capsule crash. Aside from hunting with my Dad nothing compares to the hours I spent with my Joes Hunting the White Tiger and killing Ken Dolls. What a wimp! However, I eventually came to believe I was too old for GI Joe, and boy, did my Joes suffer. BB Guns Fire Crackers and I was reminded by my brother of some sling shot incidents that are much to graphic to describe. I don't remember exacly what happened to all my childhood GI Joes. Although, some met a horrific end, I can only hope that wherever they are and with a few replacement parts they can look back on the time we shared with as much joy as I do.
