Ginny Kinds

Introduction

Have you ever wondered what these furry parts of your guinea pig mare called?  What they represent?  Well on this page, I will list all of them, and will add a few pictures to present the ones I list.  Enjoy!

The Different types of Guinea Pigs will be listed below:

ABYSSINIAN

Abyssinian: Furry Whorls all over the body.

PERUVIAN

Peruvian: These guinea pigs usually are short-haired.  Their fur runs smooth throughout the body.

Rex

A Rex guinea pig's fur coat is usually short, fine and silky.  They look like cute little rats.

Dutch

A Dutch guinea pig has a normal hair pattern that flows through the body.  The cheeks and hindquarts are of the same colour (Usually).

According to this picture, a guinea pig's back and head are of the same colour.

Texel

A Texel's hair is usually long and curly.  They look a little like Ginny, but the hair is much puffier.

White Crested

The single rosette on the head is white.  I have never seen one of these before.  They look rare to me!!!

This picture shows a guinea pig with black fur throughout the body, but there is also a white rosette placed on it's head.

American Satin

These guinea pigs have a cream, silky smooth fur that runs through the body.  They are short-haired, and the satin sheen of the fur enhances the intensity of the colour.
