The Medical Care for a Guinea Pig

EAR CLEANING
Read-up: The way to clean your guinea pig's ear is by first, taking a tissue (or a small cloth),and rub it gently in your guinea pig's ear.  This will remove all dust and debris.  Also, take a piece of cotton and feel inside its ear.  If you see any browness, smelly deposits, or anything worse like Mites, then your guinea pig does have symptoms of a disease, and to solve this case, you will need to report to a veterinarian immediately.
Clipping Nails
In order to do this, you will need a special kind of scissors.  These scissors are provided for you at a pet store.  The reason that you have to cut a guinea pig's nails, are to avoid splinters, scratches, unhealthy problems, and other symptons that can be formed.  Below, I will write the process in cutting nails.  It's rather short, but it's a good thing to keep in mind of doing!

Well, in order to complete this process, what you have to do, is hold your guinea pig either:

Lying on its back or
Standing up

Next, you are to choose one nail at a time. For example, if you choose the bottom left foot, first nail - you will need to cut as close to the tip as possible.  Check out Figure #1 on the right.

The reason why you should cut near the tip of the nail, is because like humans, guinea pigs have blood vessels that if you snip it by even a little bit, your guinea pig will bleed.  And believe me, it happened with my cousin's rabbit!
Caring for Long Hair
Do you have a long-haired guinea pig?  Well, in order to groom this guinea pig, all you have to do is get a mini - small pair of scissors, and a mini comb. 
Simply, take the comb and stroke it down from the head to the hind.  Do this for at least 10 times on the top, and two sides.  Once you're done this, then take your index and middle finger, and stroke your guinea pig and wherever you find extra fur, you place that fur in between your two fingers and simply take the brush into your other hand, and snip off the fur so that it is tied with everything else.  This makes it look neat and silky.
Caring for the Teeth
Guinea pig teeth are as strong and healthy everytime they grow back.  But what can you do to prevent a guinea pig's teeth from breaking or becoming unhealthy?

What you have to do, is feed your guinea pig healthy foods daily.  Afterwards, give your guinea pig a stick with hard food on it so that your guinea pig can bite it solid.  Then you can give your guinea pig a strawhouse to chew on the straw, in order for its teeth to get healthy.

You can also add a little extra, and give your guinea pig stones and rocks to chew on.  Your guinea pig may also chew on the bars of the cage which would strengthen their teeth even more.

If your guinea pig's tooth broke, don't worry at all.  It'll grow back.  Guinea pig teeth are very strong, and yet are like shark teeth.  Shark teeth grow back as strong and as healthy as ever.  Same thing with Guinea Pigs.  There is nothing to worry about!  Your guinea pig's teeth must be aligned with eachother (Making it straight) in order for you to actually know that its teeth are healthy.

How to Clean a Cage
In order for cleaning your guinea pig's cage, you have to take a scooper, and scoop up the pine shavings off the bottom of the cage.  This way, you can add more pine shavings afterwards to make it smell good.

Now you have to add more pine shavings to the bottom.  Make sure that you don't add a lot.  Add enough for the guinea pig to be comfortable.

Afterwards, you can add back the bowls.  But first, empty the bowls into a plastic bag, and then fill it back up with new food. Do the same with water, except empty it in your sink, and fill it bac with your sink.

After adding all of this to the cage, now you can add the extra things.  This includes, the toys, strawhouse, igloo, etc.  But before adding all these extras, spray the cage with a deodorant for cages spray.  This will help keep everything odored.

Now you can place your guinea pig into the cage.  It is nice and clean now!
