NEW YORK CITY |
I've never been here but my mom and dad both have fond memories of the Big Apple. |
Dad was born in New York and went to Vietnam from there. This picture was taken when he was in high school. He married his best friend's sister, and had one child. My stepbrother's name is Scott. I don't really know him, but I have seen him 3 times. He lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. |
My mom's only link to New York City is that is where she finally got to meet her penpal of 38 years. Koko had won a trip to the United States because of my mom. He to him in a book, and the government honored 40 teachers in Korea, that had done something good for Society. My mom's letters got him the prize. |

Dad's sister Jean, still lives on Staten Island, but his sister Isabelle, moved to Orlando, Florida. I have met them both along with his niece Blanche, but I really don't know them well either. |

Blanche, her husband Ray, and her mother Isabelle were looking good at Vincent's wedding. Dad had to work, and couldn't get off, so they didn't get to go to the wedding. |
Mom and Koko danced in the lounge of the hotel on the day they met in Manhattan, New York. |

Marie, Jean's daughter with her hubby Vince, enjoy their time at the wedding. Below, Evelyn, another daughter of Jean, is having fun with her hubby Russ. Russ supplied all the photos. |

When we got our new house in Kentucky, Blanche and Jean came to Kentucky to stay with us for awhile. I just hid out. I don't like strangers much, even if they are family. |
Dad's company closed down in New York and he was transferred to Cincinnati, Ohio. He had just gotten divorced, and when he found a home here in the Tri-State, he decided (with Blanche's advice) to learn how to dance so he could meet new people. Well, my mom sure does dance alot and very well, so she and dad met at a dance hall, and started taking Country-Western Couples dance lessons together, and one thing led to another, and they were married. As I have said before, I wasn't too happy about losing my mom to someone else, but I eventually learned to love him. He is so nice to me. Actually, he is my best friend. |
The happy wedding party, July 8, 1995. |
Our niece, Evelyn, was in the World Trade Center Complex when the first airplane hit the south tower. She got out and we are very grateful to still have her. Other relatives in New York City wanted a t-shirt with the towers on it, so we made them and some for us. We went to the grocery store, and sold 5 before we got back to our car. We have many designs available if anyone would like one. Prices on request. Sweatshirts also. |
