Waves rippled and glistened with sapphire light in the mid-day sun. White caps rose and broke over the ground, turning the sable sand to a dark brown-black. The rhythmic rise and fall of the waves was broken as four large bodies waded into the water.
Merlinth bellowed happily and splashed his way into the ocean. His wings flapped awkwardly with his unsteady movements as he grappled for purchase on the soft sand bottom. Dracoth sighed and nudged his brother to his feet, thought not before being drowned by a wave from the blue's wings. He glared darkly as the playful blue dipped his head beneath the water and rained another splash on his brother. Senorith snorted in distaste, picking her tail and wings up over the waves as she moved into the waist high water. Bazuk followed close behind her, purring with content as the cool liquid washed over his brown hide.
From the land, the four riders stripped down to their swim clothes and slipped into the water. Myia gasped as the chill touched her, immediately numbing the heat of the day. M'lor and T'lor, on the other hand, ignored the cold and raced each other out to their two blues, splashing everything within reaching distance as they passed. Moonshadow laughed and nimbly made his way over to Bazuk. The large brown rumbled his delight and rolled onto his back.
This feels soooo nice. He squirmed his way towards the shallower water and rubbed his back on the soft sand bottom. Moonshadow laughed, picking up a scrubing brush and attacking his side.
"I told you. You never listen to me."
You usually don't have good ideas.
Moonshadow snorted lightly. "All my ideas are good."
Speaking of ideas. What do you think of that dark dragon frenzy going on at the Healing Den? Merlinth spoke up as T'lor srubbed beneath the blue-black's wings.
I think it's a stupid idea. Senorith snorted, ignoring a plea from Myia to lower her neck. Eventually, the small rider simply climbed to her dragon's back and attacked it from there.
You're just sore cuz Dharanath is going to be there. Merlinth grinned and ducked behind Dracoth as the large white gold growled.
I see no reason to be upset, Senorith. He's flown in other flights before this. That doesn't mean he prefers the others over you. Dracoth tried to calmly reply to the queen's anger. Senorith snarled once more at Merlinth for good measure then oblidgingly dropped her rider back into the water. Myia sputtered to the surface and glared up at her bond.
Fine. If he can fly in other flights then so can I. I will join that Flurry at Ryslen.
"No you're not!" Myia waded over to the dragon's side and pulled herself up to Senorith's wing. Precariously perched there, she began scrubbing the hide beneath her wide wing sails. "Just because Dharanath does something doesn't mean you have to too. Besides, I'm not letting some idoitic, muscle brained male touch me just because his dragon caught you."
Are you worried about R'tek finding someone else? Bazuk grinned innocently as Myia glared at him.
"I am not! Well..."
Don't worry about it, rider mine. I won't let anyone hurt you. Senorith lifted her head proudly, her eyes whirling the orange-flecked red that she used when she was defending her rider. Myia was about to reply when a dry sponge flew through the air and smacked Bazuk square between the eyes.
Uh oh. Bazuk quickly flipped onto his front and buried his face in the water as Siltek stormed out towards him.
"You blasted, scale-less, winged lizard!! You signed up for that frenzy, didn't you?!"
M'lor and T'lor snickered quietly as Moonshadow looked in bewilderment from his bond to his wife. The black Liron wasn't finished yet though. Approaching the dragon, she took hold of one of his bronze horns and yanked his head out from under the waves. Bazuk looked sheepishly into the black eyes of his rider's mate.
I wanna fly.
"You didn't tell me!"
I was going to.
"Hey! What about me?" Moonshadow cried. He glanced from Siltek to Bazuk then back to Siltek. "What flight? Where? Wha-?" The normally calm Tigra was utterly confused. Siltek snorted in disgust and dropped Bazuk's horn.
"This lizard of yours signed up for the Dark Dragon Frenzy at the Healing Den."
Stop calling me lizard. Besides, you can come along. No one's going to stop you from standing in.
Siltek pondered this for a minute, her black tail making ripples in the water as it waved back and forth. She sighed lightly and picked up the sponge that had been floating in the water beside her and began scrubbing the dragon's forehead. "If you think I'm going to let some pea brained woman touch my husband-"
I never thought anything of the sort.
Moonshadow sighed dejectedly and began washing Bazuk's side again, muttering to himself. "Why am I always the last to know of these things?"
So whadda ya think bro?
I think it's a great idea bro. The two dark dragons grinned at each other then turned to their riders.
We wanna fly too!
M'lor and T'lor stood in stunned silence for a moment then exchanged a gleeful glance. They were both 21 respectively and always enjoyed a new experience.
"Alright. Let's do it." T'lor turned to face Moonshadow and Siltek who were still arguing over the flight. "Hey Moonshadow! Me and M'lor are coming with you to the Healing Den. Dracoth and Merlinth want to fly too."
The Tigra/man nodded to them as Bazuk lifted his bulk out of the water and shook himself off. Siltek, now throughly soaked, glared up at the red-marked dragon.
And that leaves me to my Flurry. Senorith said on a final note as all four dragons waded their way out of the water. She flipped open her wings and flapped them once or twice to air dry. Myia chased after the huge queen as fast as she could.
"What?! I'm not going! I'm not going to another Frenzy! You didn't even tell me the last one had started!"
Don't worry, rider mine. Senorith looked back at the small woman and purred softly. I will take care of you. Turning her diamond shaped head away, Senorith followed after the others as they headed for the flight fields. Myia let out an exasperated sigh, last of the riders to reach the beach and gather her things.
