Just driving from town to town, going into places cold and asking if they'd let me play. Sometimes it's good, and sometimes it's not. The thing is, I had to know. |

March 14th, 1997. This is where it ends. I played this gig at the Laughing Moon in Kelowna, one of my best nights on the circuit, and drove home that night drinking Silent Sam behind the wheel and on that drive I wrote "One Stupid Song". The next morning I phoned up and cancelled any further gigs I had booked, and "retired" from the road to write and record. That spring I did Cup Of Sand, a very dark album much of which was about the road. That's where "One Stupid Song" ended up. I closed the album with it. |
