----------------------------------------------------------------------- ( J ) JDS - DENIES A PHYSICAL RESURRECTION ONLY OF JESUS CHRIST ( JOHN 2:18-22 ) In regard to further substantiating a physical resurrection only of Jesus Christ are these words of scripture. It is written; 18. Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? 19. Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21. But he spake of the temple of his body. 22. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. - John 2:18-22 According to scripture, Jesus was specifically speaking of His body as being the temple which was to be destroyed and in three days raised up from the dead. In the context of these verses of John there is nothing mentioned of the destruction of Jesus’ Spirit but rather His body. Therefore the “ risen from the dead “ to which verse 22 is refering is the physical body of Jesus having been risen from the dead and not His Spirit being risen from the dead. Scripture then writes that after Jesus rose from the dead the disciples had remembered the word Jesus spoke to them concerning His death and resurrection which resulted in their believing Jesus’ word and the scripture concerning His death and resurrection. In Lukes’ gospel chapter 24 the scriptures give a specific detailed account of Christs’ physical presentation of Himself in His resurrected body. Jesus also then shares all the scriptures written in the law of Moses, in the prophets and in the Psalms in specific regard to Himself and opens the understanding of His disciples so that they could believe His word thus confirming the witness of John 2:22. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
