MILLER

Kae, some corrections on your Miller information:   Benjamin Harvey Miller b. 27 March 1872 d. 7 February 1907; Woodmen of the World; married Ida  Dickerson.  (Buried at Blue Springs.  A small grave plot was left between my grandparents' graves because my dad (Barham Harvey) was not expected to survive since he was only two weeks old when his mother died.)  Their children:
J. N. "Jimbo" Miller b. 29 November 1892, d. 20 February 1971; married Ida Woods (daughter of Ann and Whit Woods).  (Buried at Blue Springs.)  Their children:   Oralee m. Rufus Burnette, Maudice "Pet" m. Elton Milstead, Sylvian "Sib" married Milburn F. "Coot" Milstead, Beatrice "Dub" m. Clifford Anderson).

"Ellie" Miller m. John Woods (brother of Ida Woods who married Jimbo Miller).  (They are buried at Blue Springs in Etoile.)   Their children were:   Wallace "Bud" m. several times, current wife is "Maxine" (Bud was a prisoner of the Japanese during WWII); Lee Ora m. Bill Goins; Charles "Whip" m. Yvonne; "Junior" John Woods (he's been married a couple of times – first wife was Rosalee;  cannot remember the name of #2 even though she is the
granddaughter of his mother's sister Bertha) and Effie who died of blood poisoning when she was a teenager.  (She's at Blue Springs.)

Lillie (I don't believe it was spelled "Lily") who we always called "Aunt Penny" married. Pat (I think Pat was a nickname too) McVey.   Their children were Lois (Allen); Odis (m. Gene Scott), Lloyd, Mozelle, and Aubry who died of polio in the 50s.  (Aubry was buried in Houston and his parents are probably in the same cemetery.  I cannot remember which cemetery since I was a kid when he died, but I want to say Forest Park - Lawndale.)

Bertha married a Posey.

Arthur married Ossie Posey (the sister of Bertha's husband).  (Buried at Blue Springs)  They had one daughter "Ruth."  And my dad, Barham Harvey Miller m. Almarene King (daughter of Rufus King and Lucy Wisener).  My dad's at Blue Springs, my mother is at Old Union.

If you go to Old Union, there's a row of my immediate family at the back of the cemetery.  Eric King, Doyle King, Almarene Miller, Lucy King, Romelus Wisener, Robert Wisener, Nancy Wisener, Isabelle and Romelus Emmett Wisener, and Nancy and George Christian.  I love that cemetery since I'm related to so many people there.

CHRISTIAN-CAMPBELL

Kae - You are a jewel!  Thank you so much for the info. I guess i was so excited to get the information I forgot you had given the sources. Sorry about that. Now, as to what I know. There appears to be a conflict in persons. Piera Christian (Joseph Campbell's wife) was born 16 June 1814 in Hawkins Co. TN. The 1860 Census dated July 23, 1860 in San Saba, TX ( I have a copy of this censusd) has Piera L , Joseph's wife, age 46. This fits with the birthdate I have. Other information comes from the San Saba County History 1856-1983, published by the San Saba Historical Society. It reads:

"In the spring of 1840, Chaney and Isabella Moffet Couch and Elizabeth Caroline arrived in the Republic of Texas. They had emigrated from Tennessee with a small band of pioneers. Among them were Mrs. Couch's brother, William, and family....this group had someone waiting for them in Nacogdoches. William and Isabella's brother, George A. Christian, had arrived between 1837-1840. William died a short time after reaching Nacogdoches, June 1840.  In December 1841, Isabella's sister Pierra and husband, Joseph Camapbell, joined them and they all settled in territory later designated Rusk County." They emigrated to San Saba County in the 1850's.Chaney Couch was killed by indians on October 7, 1864. "Mrs. Couch survived her husband 23 years. She lived with her two daughters for sometime. In early 1867, she made a trip to Nacogdoches to bring her mother, Mary Elizabeth Christian, to Deer Creek. (San Saba Co.) Mrs. Christian spent her remaining years with Mrs. Couch and died in 1868." This article does not say who Mary Elizabeth Christian's husband was. Was she a Moffet? Joseph and Piera had the following children: Rebecca H. Camapbell, b. Abvt. 1839 in Tennessee; Mary I (possibly Isabella) Campbell b. Abt. 1841 in Louisiana; Joanna Long Campbell born 19 September 1843 Nacogdoches County, TX, m. James Milton Low 10 September 1868 in Round Rock,Texas, d. 11 July 1923 in Chappel, TX (buried Rough Creek Cemetery - now on private property).(Joanna and James Milton were my great-grandparents); Tennysee Campbell, b. Abt. 1845 (not on the 1860 - so she must have died before then); Pierra Louisa Campbell b. Abt. 1849 in TX; Jerome Camapbell b. Abt. 1852 in TX and William Thomas (Bill) Campbell b. Abt. 1858 in Texas.

Some of my information came from NACOGDOCHES-GATEWAY TO TEXAS. We have those books in the Corpus Christi Public Library. Joseph and Piera were only 2 years apart in age, but the Piera L. (Luticia B.) you mention was born ca. 1845, which would make her 15 in 1860 and not born when Joseph and Pierra had some of their family. This is getting a little confusing.

Ethel Hooten, another descendant and researcher, states the following: Pierra, born June 16, 1814 In Hawkins Co. TN. Married Joseph Camapbell. She says she is not sure, but believes the father and mother were John Christian wo married Elizabeth Caroline Moffet.

Do not have a copy of     THE PEOPLE OF NACOGDOCHES COUNTY IN 1850, so if you would scan the page and send it to me I would appreciate it.

As to where I am - I live in Rockport, TX (on the Gulf Coast). We are near Corpus Christi and they have an excellent Family History Research Facility. Now - you know what I know and what I have - which isn't much. But maybe it will help you to help us narrow the search. I am the daughter of Curfew Gaddy Petty, daughter of Maggie Low Gaddy who was the daughter of Joanna Christian and Joseph Campbell.  Sorry this was so long, but I felt it necessary to let you know what I know so some information can be clarified.  Again, Thanks for your help!  Joan.   My address: Joan Petty Bounds, P.O. Box 1801, Rockport, TX 78381-1801,  Phone: (361) 729-7599.  jbounds@dbstech.com
