RECTOR

Thank you, I could use more information on the Rector Family.  I know there were four brothers, Sam Houston, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Thoms Jefferson Rector who were some of the first settlers of Nacogdoches and Shelby Counties.  My husbands grandmother was daughter to Benjamin Franklin.  Her name was Martha Elizabeth “Lizzy” Rector and she married John Goodman who moved to Texas from Osage County, Mo.  I would love to have more on him also, siblings and parents and such.

I have to tell you what got me interested in researching family historu.  Last January while my brother-in-law Charlie Carlton was in the hospital, we got to talking about family history and where we were born and such.  To our amazement, we found that he and my husband James Franklin Alford, Jr. are first cousins once removed throught their mothers.  Charlie’ mother was Hassie Goodman, who married Sam Rector 1st and had one daughter (Nellie Mae) and after he died of TB she married Bill Carlton also from that part of Texas.  My husband is son of Nelsy Mae Goodman, daughter of Benjamin Goodman, the brother of Hassie.

Charlie and Bertha have been married 31 years and we have been married 34 years.  Neither of these guys had ever met in their lives until they married sisters.  We have had more fun since then.

Question?  Is the Goodman relative in Conroe related to any of the same Goodmans we are?  We’d love to meet them id they are.  We just live down 145 from them.

Thanks again for all your hard and beautiful work.
