The surnames of my ancestors from Nacogdoches are: STERNE, RUOFF
(RUFF), & MALLARD. There are many other surnames who married into the
STERNE family
but they are not my direct lines. Judy

I've only been researching since July, but so far have quite a bit on Adolphus Sterne, including his
diaries. I also have the new reprint of
Nacogdoches County Families. I also have a little info on his
wife's family, although mainly just Eva's sister who married a Taylor.
The Mallards I have very little info about.
What I'm really hoping by posting the names around like this is I'll be able to
connect with some cousins from these lines. It seems strange to me that
all the other surnames I'm researching from East Texas, even though there were
large families, I've found no other cousins! It's like I'm the only one
researching these ancestors! My McClanahan's are from Anderson Co.
Elizabeth Sterne (daughter of Charles Adolphus) married William Marshall
McClanahan who was my great-grandfather. There were 8 children of that
marriage.... where are all these people??? But, that's the fun &
frustration of genealogy! Any suggestions would be greatly
