Sarah Strahan died at her home near Shady Grove Thursday.  She was the widow of David Strahan and daughter of Uncle John Newman of the Appleby community.  She has 8 children, 6 of whom are married.  She was buried at Shady Grove.

Moses Strahan, Sr. born 1765 and died Copiah Co. Mississippi is my ggg-gfather.  I havea copy of William Howard Strahan’s bible.  He was the son of Alexander Strahan.  Alexander being the brother of Moses, Sr. They are the Strahans in Colorado Co., Texas.  The Strahans from arrounf Tarrant County, Texas are from Neil Strahan also a son of Alexander.  Manuel is the son of Moses, jr.  Manuel’s brother Frank also came to Texas in 1860,  If you have any info on this Frank I would love to know.  The Strahan’s of Liberty County are from John Sr. the younger brother of Moses, Sr.  The Strahan in Denton Co. in 1860 belong to David Strahan (1755) cousin to Moses Sr.  The Strahans at Honey Grove, Faniin Texas are also from David Strahan.

          The Family Bible of your Thomas Strahan is in the possession of Vina Strahan Meir.  I do not have her address or phone number but I will search the web for her.  I would like to get a copy of it.

          Thomas Strahan was born 1 September 1820 in York County, South Carolina; married 2 September 1845; died 20 October 1867; married Amanda Melvina Merchant born 6 October 1826; died Feb 1902 Runnels County Cemetery, Belle Plain.  Children:  Sarah Ann Strahan, born 8 December 1846; died 15 February 1863; George William Strahan, born 26 October 1848; married Laura Lorina Rice, 2 December 1896; died 17 January 1922, Prairieville, Kaufman County, Texas; Richard English Strahan, born 15 August 1851; died 31 May 1891; John D. Strahan, born 20 July 1854; died 26 October 1854; Elizabeth Strahan, born 9 September 1855; died 29 May 1856; Thomas Strahan, born 19 July 1857; married Margery Dilly; James Strahan, born 12 April 1860; died 20 April 1879; Mary A. “Mollie” Strahan, born 2 July 1863; died 19 October 1884 to William Marion Kyser 28 November 1882; Catherine Strahan, born 7 January 1868; died 5 December 1952, married 24 September 1890 to Louis Hutchinson.  Billy Strahan at e-mail address sales@dpi.net
