For those of you unfamiliar with Greek mythology, this is site of the mythical contest between Poseidon (God of the Sea) and Athena (Goddess of Wisdom) to determine who would be the city's patron god. The olive tree behind me was Athena's winning gift to the city, thus the name, Athens. |
