PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN

I'm proud to be an American
In this land of the free
Where I'm allowed to speak my mind
And even disagree!
Where I can elect my leaders freely
According to my choice
And even the lowliest among us
Have an equal voice
We open our arms and hearts
To nations in despair
And send our sons and daughters
To show them that we care
But sometimes here at home
We've become complacent and blase
And take for granted the liberties
That we enjoy every day
The blood of our forefathers
Was spilt so we may live
In freedom and dignity
With the capacity to forgive
America, America
Be ever vigilant and strong
I'm proud to be an American
And that, to this Country, I belong

Author's Comments:
How lucky we are, to have
been born in freedom, and
call the greatest Country
in the world, our home!
