I kissed your lips
placed my hands upon your hips
and looked deep into your eyes
and there was lost
Whispering to myself:
At all cost I must awake
and feel your hands pressed against my face
your gentle kiss
your warm embrace
your hands pressed against my face
your sweet words of love whispered sweetly, softly, gently in my ear.
But when at last
in quiet desperation I awoke
to tell the truth my hands and soul did shake
No gentle kiss
no warm embrace
no hands pressed against my face
and no sweet words of love whispered sweetly, softly, gently in my ear
Except, I was left alone
with pain no man should bear
the sound my heart breaking
the sound no man should hear
and the joy I felt while dreaming
was no longer there
Sorrow filled the very air
