My way of remembering 9/11
YESTERDAY.......TWO YEARS AGO
Two years haved passed...and shadows blend...but never fade away...
...for those who felt that tragic strike...it seems just yesterday!
To the families...the children...the loved ones...all,
...their loss...we've tried to share!
Yet...still...at supper in those homes...
...there's still an empty chair!
A Mom or Dad's still missing...
...at someone's little league game,
While somewhere a little heart still waits...
...but Grandpa never came!
Yes...yesterday...two years ago...a world of dreams came down...
...wrapped in planes and towers...and pieces never found!
A million hearts and souls destroyed...
...before that day was through,
Yesterday...it was...two years ago...
...still part of me and you!
Then with each hour...word would come...
...more names in search of faces!
All we could do...was pray and hope...
...in a thousand different places!
Yesterday...two years ago...
...Lady Liberty held Old Glory...
Still the struggle waged...to bring them down,
...is a never-ending story!
But...in our way...our American way...
...there's strength...and pride within,
We may stagger...we won't fall...
...and we'll just stand strong again !
So, with our hearts...we offer prayer...
...to those who paid the cost,
Let us never forget the price...
...of the sacrifices lost!
Let's hold their mem'ry...in our hearts...
...and whisper still their names,
For, yesterday...two years ago...
...to the front those heroes came!
