Olivia's Story
While suspects are unknown, a severe act of violence has taken place. On July 31, 2001, four neighborhood cats in the town of Bloomingdale, Indiana were lit on fire. After luring the four unsuspecting cats into a fenced backyard, the suspects poured hairspray over all of them and using a cigarette lighter, set them ablaze. A passing motorist happened to see one of the cats, Olivia, and quickly brought her to an emergency veteranarian. Out of the four cats, Olivia was the most injured. On over 40 percent of her body, she had third degree burns. The fee for the veteranarian attention was well over $15,000 and unfortunately, Olivia passed only weeks later.

Cancer Dog Shot
A one-year old black labrador had the discomfort of being shot. On June 21st of 1999, Timothy Mulgrew (pictured below) pulled a rifle on Cole, the black Lab, and shot him three times. He supposedly was attempting to scare him away so he would get off Mulgrew's property. Cole limped home, only to die in front of his family. The Dempster family, which consisted of Patty, Bob, and their three sons, Dylan, Teddy, and Robbie, had adopted the 8 week old puppy from a county shelter. Cole was eight-year old Teddy's companion, for Teddy was suffering from terminal cancer. Teddy had died 10 months previous to Cole's death, which fortunatley saved him the pain of Cole passing. Update: Timothy Mulgrew received 90 days of electronic detention or 90 days of parcipitation in the Sheriff's Work Alternative Program. He must also perform 200 hours of community service, was sentenced with 2 years of probation in which he can't posses guns, plus a $100 fine. Mulgrew's wife had sent the Dempsters a $2000 check, but that won't fix what happened.
