MEAT FILLED STUFFED SHELLS |

This is a change from the usual stuffed shell recipe made with ricotta cheese. |
|
|
|
Serves 8 |
|
|
|
Ingredients: |
|
|
|
- 1 package jumbo shells
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork or (1 pound of sausages)
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- pepper to taste
- 3 cups spagetti sauce
- additional parmesan cheese for the topping

Directions: |

Cook pasta according to the directions on the package; drain. Cool in a single layer on foil. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Meanwhile, in a large skillet brown meat. (If you are using the sausage instead of the gound pork cook that separately from the ground beef. Then mix both cooked meats together. ) Add onions and garlic to the meat and fry together for a few minutes. In a large bowl mix meat, eggs, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, pepper and mozzarella cheese. Fill each shell with about 2 tablespoons meat filing. Spread thin layer of sauce on bottom of 13" x 9" x 2" baking dish. Cover with remaining sauce. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Cover with foil. Bake 45 minutes or until hot and bubbly. |
