RACE INFORMATION
HALF MARATHON EVENT
November 10, 2002
COURSE - The course is a 21.1K run or walk along the Napier foreshore to Westshore and return. This is a measured and certified course to Athletics New Zealand Standards. Competitors must stay to the right hand side unless instructed otherwise by an official. All entrants must wear the timing chip, which will be returned after the event.
All normal road rules apply.
Walkers and runners are also reminded to walk / run no more than two abreast for safety reasons.
WALKERS - Any form of walking is permitted, however if you intend to walk / run this event please enter as a runner.
10 KM EVENT
November 10, 2002
COURSE - The 10 km will be an out and back course turning at the half marathon 5km point. Any form of walking / running is permitted however we ask that no bicycles, in line skates, skateboards or the like are used. Wheelchairs or pushchairs may be used at your own risk. Competitors must stay to the right hand side unless instructed otherwise by an official. All entrants must wear the timing chip, which will be returned after the event. All normal road rules do apply. The course will be unmarked and unmarshalled after 11.30 am.
TEAM EVENT - Enter as a team of four, complete the distance and go into a special spot prize draw. Teams can be made up of all walkers or all runners or a composite of both. (Each team member must complete the whole 10km).
ALL EVENTS START TIMES November 10, 2002 Half marathon walkers 7.30 am
Half marathon runners 8.30 am
10 km event 8.45 am
ENTRIES - Entries should be postmarked no later than Wednesday the 31st of October. Entries after this date will incur a late entry fee for both events. No refunds will be made after the 31st October 2002. Entries will not be individually confirmed.
RACE NUMBERS - Race Packs can be picked up at Smiths Shoes… Plus! Corner of Emerson Street and Market Street Napier City, from 12 midday till 3:00pm on Saturday 9th November or on race day at Race Headquarters, Napier Boys High school from 6:00 am. Race Numbers must be pinned to the front of clothing and be clearly visible at all times. Competitors not wearing a race number will not be allowed to enter the finish area
TIMES - Times will be called at 1k, 5k, 10k for the ˝ marathon and 5km for the fun event
DRINKS - Manned water / sponge stations will be situated around the course.
FINISH AREA - Will be situated on the grounds in front of the pavilion. Powerade and bananas will be available to finishers. St Johns will be on site for any emergencies. A team of masseurs will offer massage for a fee. Refreshments will also be available for sale.
PRIZE GIVING - Prize giving is at midday outside the pavilion. The 10km has team and individual spot prizes, the half marathon has spot and place prizes in each category where entry numbers allow. Spot prize winners must be present to claim their prizes.
T-SHIRTS - The T-Shirt will again feature original artwork and must be ordered on the entry form for $30 each. Late orders will cost $35 (including package and postage within NZ) and will be sent within four weeks of the event. This is subject to availability.
