In 2000 the Belgian model finally got the recognition she deserved and was voted into the final ten of her country’s version of ‘Popstars’. “I think Popstars is excellent because it champions individuals who otherwise wouldn’t make it,” explains Kira. “I think Liberty X are cool. They are quite big in Belgium, and as long as artists are talented and aren’t lazy I don’t see why they shouldn’t do well. If I hadn’t got a record deal I would have done it again!”
Popstars weren’t the only people to see Kira’s potential and that same year she also came runner up in the Miss Belgium beauty contest.
Kira’s latest break came in March this year after she was introduced to producers Bart Grinaert, Bert Wilmaers and Maarten Wilmaers. Bert and Maarten are the production team behind Filterheadz whose remixes include Green Velvet’s ‘La La Land’ and Minimalistix ‘Close Cover’.
