Welcome my friends. You probably just received a letter and/or e-mail from me telling you about the Alaska AIDS Vaccine Ride (AAVR) and asking you to help me raise the funds that I need to participate in the ride. First, let me thank you for even taking the time to log on and read this page. I'm sure you're curious to know what the heck it is that I'm doing and if I've lost my mind. Well, the letter/e-mail that you read preety much sums up the whole deal. But if you're reading this, then it wasn't enough to convince you to just take out that check book and send in the check. What else is there that you need to know. I could just quote AIDS statistics and tell you even more gruesome facts but I'm sure you have an idea and that in itself is distressing enough. But if you don't really have a clue to the extent of the damage, just link onto the AAVR site and well, there you have it in black and white. Otherwise, that part I wrote about claiming the lives of a total of 9 million adults and 2.7 million children is preety much the picture, even today. So I figured that this cause is definitly worth the effort and your contributions more than just. Another reason you ask? I do have other reasons, some I don't think I can actually conceptualize much less vocalize. One other reason is that I believe that the AAVR has challenged me (and you) to do something we might not have even thought about. In the wake of all this death, what better way is there to "celebrate life" than to bike 510 miles across some beautiful territory. I doublt it's all going to be hunky dory, and don't even think that I'm not at all worried but that's the wonder and challege of it all. And think I've got about eight months to worry. But the best thing so far, I've gotten out of this experience, and it has only been two months since I signed up, has been memory lane. I've had to do some major searching to get the right address/e-mail and have been rummaging through my things. You would be surprised at the things (especially letters) I've kept from someone you. It's been a wonder and has brough even more committment to the event than ever! If anything else, I'll be in touch with some of you again. So then, how are you doing? Convinced yet or are you more than ever worried about my sanity? Don't!!! Be happy for me, as a matter of fact, encourage me or better yet, participate with me. Unfotunately, they've got enough riders but the AAVR still needs help with Crew, you can be there with me all the way. Just go to their link and sign up. Don't forget to let me know though! Well if you've decided to help me out...Thank you in advance for your contributions. |
