Mission

Welcome to the Naval Historical Detachment - Baltimore website. The mission of the Naval Historical Detachment is to authentically recreate the appearance and activities of sailors who served our county in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard during the time of World War II, as well as during the pre-war and post-war periods. We strive to educate the public as to how these sailors lived, the duties they performed, the ships and bases on which they served, the tools of their trade, the missions they under took, and the sacrifices they made.

How Do We Do This?

Detachment members portraying uniformed sailors of the WWII era provide educational programs to the general public, groups, and organizations by means of lectures, demonstrations, displays, ceremonies, visual appearance, and general conduct.

Where Do We Do This?

Where do Detachment members present their programs and displays?? The Naval Historical Detachment are active in a variey of venues, from the Liberty Ship SS JOHN W. BROWN, the battleship USS NORTH CAROLINA, to Ft. McHenry and other historical locations, where the men of our nation's naval and coast guard services served.
