Tips from professional makeup artist, Barbara Jean Madrigan |
Barbara Jean Madrigan, has been a makeup artist since 1985. She is a graduate of Aveda Institute. During her 16 year career she has freelanced as a makeup artist in Minneapolis/St. Paul and Las Vegas. Barbara specializes in stage makeup. She has worked in Las Vegas as a makeup artist for show girls and other performers. Barbara understands the effects of stage lights and how the rigors of dancing necessitates durable makeup. She is not commercially connected to any cosmetics company. The products she suggests are those that she has found to be effective for stage work. |
1. Start with a clean face. Thoroughly remove any makeup. Neutragena Daily Cleansing Soap is Barb's choice. In the summer a toner (Elizabeth Arden or Sea Breeze) helps keep excessive oil under control. In the winter a moisturizer (Lancome) helps dry skin. 2. Barb like to start with the eyes. "The eyes are where you want to focus attention and where you will want to put the major part of your time and effort." Brows should be shaped and tweezed of any strays. The brows frames the eye so this is important. Prepare the eye area by applying Max Factor pancake makeup. This is dry and is applied by wetting the sponge applicator. You will apply this to the lid area and just under the eye. This will set the eye makeup in place and prevent it from smudging due to face or makeup oils on the skin. Line the eyes using Maybeline Waterproof Eyeliner. Sorry, I'm still working in this site and this is where I stopped. Enhanse the shape of the eye with eye shadow. Mascara |
