ANNUAL MEETING NOTICE

Sunday, August 25, 2002

Meeting at 2 PM

Committee Meetings at 1 PM

North Carolina Central University Law School

THIS IS AN ELECTION YEAR

All are invited to attend the Annual Meeting of NC USA T&F regardless if you are member or not. Directions to the NCCU Law School are given below. Only members of USATF who are at least 18 years of age and in attendance (no proxy voting) will be allowed to vote in the meeting. If you are a new member (as opposed to a renewing member) you must have been a member by June 30, 2002 in order to vote. If you are a renewing member (from 2001) you may renew your membership at the meeting and still vote. Please bring proof of 2001 membership if you plan to renew your membership at the meeting or if you have renewed since June 30, 2002.

All positions which are elected positions will be up for election at this meeting. All terms are for two years (with the exception of Officials Chair) and newly elected people will begin their terms on September 1, 2002. The Nominating Committee will present a slate of candidates and nominations will be accepted from the floor.

Positions will be elected on the floor at this meeting unless otherwise stated below. Positions which are to be elected by the appropriate committee must have been elected in a committee meeting which attained a quorum, i.e. had five eligible voting members in attendance. All officers and chairs must be members of USATF, as must all those who are eligible to vote in committee meetings (except for the Officials Committee). In the event that a committee does not have a quorum of five eligible voting members or does not meet to hold their election, such committee chairs will be elected from the floor.

In summary, the following positions will be voted on by all eligible members in attendance: Officers, Sport Committee Chairs who were not elected by their committee, Appeals Chair, Nominations Chair, and At-Large Board members.

Delegates to the National Convention of USATF will be chosen by the vote of the voting members in attendance, subject to the criteria outlined in the Bylaws (a copy of which may be obtained by contacting Paul Hronjak). It is anticipated that up to ten delegates will be elected at the Annual Meeting (the President is an automatic delegate).

AGENDA FOR THE 2002 ANNUAL MEETING OF NCUSATF

BOARD MEETING TO FOLLOW ANNUAL MEETING

The regular, quarterly Board meeting of NCUSATF will immediately follow the Annual Meeting. All are invited to attend and join any discussion; however, only current Board members (those who were elected or appointed prior to the 2002 Annual Meeting) shall have a vote in the meeting. Current Board Members and Officers are listed, along with contact information, elsewhere in this newsletter.

NEWSLETTER EDITOR NEEDED

I have not had time to do a regular newsletter for a few years now and continue to search for someone to take on this job. PLEASE step forward if you have any interest. You must be able to operate word processing software (your choice) but no other technical skills are required. Our association deserves more regular communication than they have received in recent years. At a minimum, there should be two issues a year and three would be better.
