Siena Italy
This is the view from our room at the Alma Domus. It is a hotel/convent attached to the birthplace of Saint Catherine and near the church of San Domenico-where there is a chapel with her relics.  I painted this watercolor from our balcony on a warm, sunny September afternoon.  This hill-town  is a wonderful walking town and most streets lead to Il Campo.

The Palio is held twice a year, in July and August, at Il Compo.

Through out the year  flags and banners of the neighborhood contradas are everywhere, celebrating  a past victory or preparing  for an upcoming race.
