| As they say, we are the best kept secret around! WHY??? Somebody must not be doing something just right. I ran into a situation last month that I asked a man why he wasn't a Lion. His reply, because nobody has ever asked me to! Well believe me, he was asked and I think him and his wife will be turning in their applications next meeting. This is a couple that has been heavily involved in community service for years and was NEVER ASKED! You would be surprised at who you can get involved! You just have to, extend a hand, and ask! It doesn't have to be at a special event. We have gotten members at eye screenings, christmas tree lot, other club meetings and other various locations. YOU JUST HAVE TO ASK! Another thing, are we holding our expectations too high? Are you afraid to give a man a second or even a third chance? The man that you have in a community might have a little blimish in his past. He might also be the best Lion your club may ever see. There are people out there that are begging for a second chance and really need it just for theirselves. Give these people a chance. Like a billboard I saw, quit pointing the finger and extend a hand shake instead! Isn't that what Lions are about?j One last thing is that we need to get the younger generation involved! As the clubs seem to be ageing out we need young folks to keed the light shining. We have been mighty fortuate at Pleasant Garden Lions Club to get a young bunch in. We are working hard to get a Leo Club started. The young kids need to know something besides sports and they also need to make their mark in their community that will be their pride and joy!
