NEBRASKA USA
WRESTLING
NATIONAL DUALS TEAM INFO
LETTER
The Nebraska Cadet Director will be putting together a group of
coaches and athletes to attend the USA National Cadet Dual
Championships in Greeley, Colorado. The tournament is scheduled for
July 1-5, 2003 at the University of Northern Colorado. It will
consist of 24 Greco teams and 32 Freestyle teams. To conserve
resources, I would like to send one team that would wrestle both
Greco & Freestyle tournaments. However, if sufficient interest
exists, a second team may be generated. Teams will consist of 25
wrestlers in 17 weight classes. The weight classes are 84, 91, 98,
105, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, and
275.
The anticipated cost to each participant will be $225. These funds
will cover the transportation, lodging, uniforms. Individual
wrestlers will be responsible for their meals and souvenirs.
The plan is to have a two training sessions prior to the
tournament. Wrestlers from the East/Central portion of the state will
meet in Grand Island, at Bosselmans Truck Stop near the
intersection of Interstate 80 and HWY #281 at 9:00 AM on the morning
of June 30. From there they will travel to Kimball, Nebraska where
they will undergo and afternoon and evening training session. They
will spend the night in Kimball and then depart for Greeley the next
morning for registration and weigh-ins. Interested applicants need to
submit an application and $150 deposit by May 12, 2003. Team entries
need to be received and compiled by May 19 so we need all
applications NLT May 12 to submit our team rosters. You will not be
considered for the team without your registration and deposit. Once
youre selected for the team, your deposit will not be
refunded!
Primary selection criteria will be how you placed at the State
Championship Tournament. Wrestlers who do not attend this tournament
will only be considered for open weight classes will be recruited as
needed. Special consideration will be given to those wrestlers that
were able to participate in a USA Regional tournament this season.
Those vacancies will be filled based upon experience and a
competitive wrestle-offs. In order to strengthen the overall depth of
the team, were authorized 8 alternates with 17 weight classes.
The alternate assignments will be at the coachs discretion.
If a weight group has too many applicants, the lowest ranked
wrestlers will be released and will receive a refund for their
deposit. The best case scenario would be to have enough applications
to submit a second team.
Weigh-ins & skin checks will commence at 10:00 AM on the
morning of July 1, 2003. All wrestlers must be present at the
beginning of weigh-ins and must make scratch weight wearing their
competition singlet.
Best of Luck to Everyone in their State
Championship Tournament!
