United States. You have walked the runway as a member of the opposite sex in
support of such designers as Vivienne Westwood, Thierry Mugler, and Jean Paul
Gaultier. And you have constructed custom-made, made-to-measure designs for
yourself and dozens of downtown denizens including Parker Posey, and event hostess Susanne Bartsch. What is the next, inherent step in this evolution of artistic expression?
For style maven Zaldy Goco the development of a fully conceived, runway
collection was not only the obvious answer but a necessary one. “I have toyed with the idea for as long as I can remember and in 2002 I felt the most ready to
take it on,” says the designer.
After having studied fashion design at Parsons in Los Angeles and The Fashion
Institute of Technology, Zaldy and his then partner makeup artist Mathu
Andersen, became legends in the downtown, nightclub circuit. Together, the two
styled one another, creating outrageous clothing and looks that quickly caught the attention of event producer Susanne Bartsch. Before long, the two were a
permanent fixture at every Bartsch-conceived event, working the crowd, while
elevating the level of crossed-dressed elegance. Such exposure lead to
collaborations and image consulting with such names as Donna Karan, Sheseido,MAC Cosmetics,Lady Miss Kier of Dee-Lite, and RuPaul.
Always ahead of his time, Zaldy’s designs adeptly fuse a grounded, direct
aesthetic with the designer’s glamorous night-time roots.“I thought about the diverse women in my life…and what they would like to wear and own, whatever the occasion. I’m interested in creating strong pieces that remain approachable and non-threatening or overbearing. Easy and uncomplicated……comfortable without being dull!”

Blige,Jennifer Lopez, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Shakira , Halle Berry ,Hillary Duff, Mick Jagger, Liv Tyler,Christina Aquilera as well as many diverse women enjoy wearing Zaldy’s Collection and look to him for custom made one of a kind pieces.
As well as designing his own collection to be shown during New York City Fashion Week, (this will be his 7th collection) Zaldy is currently working with Gwen Stefani on the first collection for LAMB to be shown on the runway this September. Zaldy has been working with Gwen and LAMB as a consultant for the past four seasons but ,agreed to become the head designer beginning with Fall 2005…LAMBs breakout and most successful season to date…so successful that Gwen and Zaldy appeared on the cover of WWD in late March for a story about the retail success of LAMB . Zaldy also works as a stylist creating looks for Rufus Wainwright and Melissa Auf der Maurs album packaging and tour wardrobes as well as many many other custom projects that take his fancy.
