I have decided to try to keep
a log over my activities in Japan so that my friends and family can keep track
of what is going on in my life. Also it might provide an intresting
introduction to Japan and its culture for people who haven't been there. I will try to update once a week and complement the text
with pictures taken with my digital camera throughout my intended year-long
stay in Japan. If you enjoy reading about Japan I recommend the homepages of my friends Hans, who has a diary he wrote when we studied as exchange students in Sapporo 2000, and Petri, who has a great story from one of his hitch-hike travels in Japan (in Swedish) as well as photos from travels in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Japan. See also Petri's new site Kyoto Creative Services where he has put up info and movie-clips from Kyoto. |

The Map | |||
Here
is a map where you can see where I have been (during the time covered in
this log). The cities where I have spent at least a day are marked with
a red dot instead of a black dot as the other cities. Smaller cities or
other places of interest that are not marked with a name on the map are marked with
a smaller red dot and number next to it. I have left out some smaller
places, especially on Kyushu since there isn't much room for
markings there. The numbers are also written next to the titles of the
logs in which I have written about when I was in that area. If you want a more detailed look of the locations (or any other location in Japan) I strongly recommend the zoomable JNTO Japan map. You can zoom down close enough to see even the smallest of streets, practically anywhere in Japan!
