Obviously, a team without a leader must have some way of maintaining a modicum of order. All important decisions are decided by vote. Below, I have outlined the voting process members must follow. We don't want to overcomplicate things of course, but some simple guidelines must be followed.
MEMBERS HOLDING SPECIAL POSITIONS

Certain members hold positions on the team that give them a certain amount of authority over one specific area of the team. These members may make certain decisions for the team in their specific area of authority without calling on a vote. This is simply to avoid tediousness, stagnancy, and chaos. For example, Cherub holds the position of Webmaster. If he were to call on a vote every time he added something to the site, the site wouldn't be updated for 5 friggin' years.

However, Cherub is expected to use his judgment as to what should and shouldn't be voted on, as are all the members holding positions. As another example, Legion is the team's representative to the Team Leader's Forums. Legion is not expected to call on a vote every time he posts a message on the forums. However, if he wants to do something like wage all-out war on another team or pull The Irregulars from the Team Leader's Forums, he would be expected to call on a vote for something of that magnitude.

HOW TO CALL FOR A VOTE

1. ANY member of the team may call for a vote

2. When someone calls for a vote, the vote has to be "seconded." In other words, at least one other person on the team has to agree there should be a vote.

3. Calling for a vote should be done in the
team thread, or in the private area of the message board. It cannot be done via e-mail or pm'ing. Doing it via e-mail raises too much of a possibility that someone will not receive the e-mail, and it can't be done through private messages on the COH forum because there is no "group" pm'ing.

THE VOTE

1. Once it has been agreed that there will be a vote, it is the responsibility of the person who initially called for the vote to post it in the Polls section of our message board.

2. When posting the vote, the team member must also post a time limit in which team members may vote. Once that time limit expires, the vote is over no matter how many members have voted.

3. The time limit can be for as long as the team member who posts the vote wishes.

4. Unless the vote is over something that is VERY urgent, the time limit for the vote should be AT LEAST a week.

5. Each member may vote ONCE.

WHAT CAN AND CANNOT BE VOTED ON

1. ALMOST anything can be voted on, from the most miniscule detail, to a decision that could potentially have earth-shattering consequences for the team.

2. You can vote on things that those holding special "positions" would normally take care of themselves. For example, Cherub is the webmaster for our site. If someone decided they wanted a completely new look for the site, this could be voted on. And if it passed, Cherub would be required to bow to the determination of that vote.

3. You cannot call on a vote for any shift in team concept that would change the democratic and/or casual nature of the team.

4. You cannot call for a vote on something that would affect the REAL LIFE situation of someone on the team. For example, while you may vote on how the site is designed, you could not call for a vote for the site to be handed over to someone else. Cherub pays for the site. It is his personal property. You could call on a vote for someone else to start another site and to disregard the current one, but you cannot call for a vote on which would force Cherub to give up his webspace to someone else. As another example, you could not call on a vote for Lucid to start paying out of his wallet for an ad-free message board.

ONE FINAL NOTE: These guidelines have nothing to do with polls that are geared simply towards gathering opinion (for example, a poll asking when folks think the game will be released). That stuff's just for fun. These guidelines are only for votes that actually impact the team
