K.I.T.T

(Knight Industries Two Thousand)

K.I.T.T was built by the foundation for law and government when some circumstances called for direct action.  he is the processor that talks, controls the car, and carries out all other commands.  K.I.T.T's primary function is to protect human life, Michael Knights life to be exact.  

K.I.T.T here are some of KITT's commonly used features in the show:

1982 customized Pontiac Firebird Trans Am made from a virtually indestructible alloy.

Bullet proof body and glass due too a molecular bonded shell.

Integrated processor which can talk, control the car and execute any of its features.

All these features can also be controlled by K.I.T.T's custom Dashboard

Turbo boost, this thrusts KITT up and forward through the air to leap over, or sometimes directly through obstacles.

Electrical jammer, this can disable a car or aircraft, overload something with a circuit, and open something like an electric gate.

Surveillance mode, this puts K.I.T.T into a state of alert, he continuously scans the area for signs of trouble and if he finds any he can contact Michael through his com link.

Ejector seats, KITT can eject anyone sitting in the driver or passenger seats .

Auto Cruise, This enables the car to drive on its own, without a driver.

Pursuit mode, this is used when pursuing another vehicle which gives K.I.T.T more acceleration and speed.

Super pursuit mode, This feature was added at the start of season 4, it gives KITT 40% more speed, when used, SPM changes the look of the car, fins pop up and out from places.

K.I.T.T has a lot more features, too many to list, but these are the most commonly used ones in the show.

K.A.R.R

(knight Automated Roving Robot)

K.A.R.R was built before K.I.T.T, he was the prototype vehicle but was never used due to a fatal computer programming error.  This mistake was not realized until K.A.R.R was finished so he was put in storage.  In the episode 'Trust doesn't Rust' K.A.R.R is accidentally re-activated by two small time thieves called Tony and The Rev and from there on K.A.R.R and the two thieves pull some bank jobs and it concludes with K.A.R.R being forced off a bridge by K.I.T.T, Michael and Bonnie.  They thought K.A.R.R had been destroyed but returned in the episode 'K.I.T.T vs K.A.R.R', he is given a new look, because in 'Trust doesn't Rust' he looked exactly the same as K.I.T.T, he gets a silver trim and his scanner changes to yellow, most likely due to his long time buried under sand.  He is out to destroy K.I.T.T and Michael this time with a stolen laser, he got it when he turbo boosted his way into the foundations semi, again K.A.R.R is destroyed, but at the end of the show we see K.A.R.R's CPU working ! 

K.A.R.R has all the same features and functions as K.I.T.T but his voice is different (played by Peter Cullen) K.I.T.T is played by William Daniels.

Goliath

Goliath is a semi made from the same alloy as K.I.T.T, the formula to the alloy was stolen by Garth Knight who was Wilton Knights son, when Michael was shot in the face it was reconstructed to look like Garth's so they look the same.  In the episode 'Goliath' he is used to steal some missiles and he wrecks K.I.T.T !, but in the end he is destroyed.  But as with K.A.R.R he returns in the episode 'Goliath returns', this time he is used to break Garth out of prison.  Goliath was rebuilt by Adrian who is Garth's girlfriend.  Under the protection of the Foundation is Dr Claus Berkstrom who is Goliaths target.  They kidnap him and try to "sell him on the open market" but Michael and K.I.T.T make a daring rescue by getting him out of the trailer when its moving.  and from there Goliath pursues them but drives over a cliff and is destroyed.

Goliath does not have any features, it does not talk, it only has its body made from the special alloy.
