Introduction ---------------------

FAQ/Walkthrough written by Nick Goracke (gora0035@tc.umn.edu). Feel free to distribute this FAQ or include it in yours as long as you credit me with this information. I don't think that's too much to ask...

Anyways, every FAQ I've read seems to just touch on how to get Wakka's Overdrives and the special sigil you need to unlock his ultimate weapon. Well, if you're like me, you probably don't want to play 100 or more Blitzball matches to get these items/overdrives. That's why I wrote this.

Getting started -------------------

I'll avoid getting into in-depth Blitzball strategy (other resources describe it much better than I could), but I will say this: Before you start playing, hire Juumal to be your goalie. It'll make things much more manageable. He's located near the bar in Luca (on a bench, I believe). Make sure you have Jecht Shoot too.

Now, have you played any Blitzball yet? No? Well, go to a save sphere, select "Play Blitzball", and check to see if a tournament is available that has "Attack Reels" as the prize. Two things could happen - it's available, or the tournament option is blacked out. If it's availabe, play and win the tournament to get it. If the tournament is blacked out, cancel out of the Blitzball menu, examine the save sphere again, select "Play Blitzball", and see if the tournament option with the prize you want is there yet. If not, repeat this process until the tournament option is available. The first tournament should always have Attack Reels as the prize.

If for some reason the first tournament doesn't have Attack Reels as the prize, select "Reset Data" and repeat the above process.

If you have played Blitzball already and the tournament has come and gone, your best bet is to "Reset Data" and then follow 2 paragraphs above. You lose your player data, but this strategy almost ensures that the first tournament you can enter will have the right prize.

I Have Attack Reels, now what? --------------------------

Select "Reset Data". Yes, you lose all of your character data, but upon restarting Status Reels will be available as a prize for League Play. (If it's not there, you haven't fought enough battles yet. 250 of them are necessary, I think). Win the leage.

Okay, now what? ---------------------------

Now you need the Auroch Reels. You should be able to get by without resetting data, simply enter the blitzball menu, exit, and repeat until the next tournament comes up. Auroch Reels should be the prize, unless you haven't met the battle requirement (350 of them, I think). Win the tournament.

It's Sigil Time. -------------------------

Now you need the Sigil to unlock Wakka's ultimate weapon. Reset data (yes, again). There's a 50% chance it will be the prize for League Play assuming you've met the battle requirement (450, I think). If it doesn't materialize, reset data again to see if it shows up. Repeat until it does. Then win the League.

Pretty easy, huh? This cuts down the Blitzball games to about 25, saving you a lot of time.
